Post #269 from Saturday September 10th, 2011

I joined Google+ a while ago. I have my reasons for not being on facebook, and I still stand by them. I'm sure I posted about it here on my personal website, but can't really be bothered to link it in right now. Sometimes I just want to go on facebook to see what some other people are writing, but so far I have still stayed away.

I like the way Google+ has started off with their circles. Facebook never had that, and they're only starting to have similar things lately. I don't trust Google 100%, but I trust Facebook even less. So for now I'm using Google+ to follow certain people and to share certain things. I use Google Reader for most of my news, and as soon as it gets more Google+integrated, I'll probably 'share' a lot more.

So far I have only re-shared one thing , and shared one thing (just now in fact) . I'm a voyeur on the web for the most part these days, but being a voyeur of friends and acquaintances gone past doesn't really interest me. That friend from high-school that I haven't talked to since high school? There's obviously some reason why we stopped talking, so why do I need to find out what they're up to now? That co-worker that I never got along with anyway? Why should I care what they're doing now? I follow the people that I follow because they're interesting and relevant now.

If they're still a 'friend' of mine, they might find me on Google+.. or not. Doesn't matter to me right now. Like me or hate me, I'll be just fine learning and doing the things that I do; with or without you.

I believe Google+ is open to the public now, but if it's not and you want an invite.. just ask.
